Program: Outreach Preschool Program at Middleborough Elementary, Baltimore County, MD

 The Outreach Program is a self-contained special education preschool program. The children have significant delays in the areas of language, cognition, motor, and social skills. In each classroom, there is a special educator and an instructional assistant. Services such as speech-language therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and vision and hearing services are also provided, depending on each student’s individual needs. Therapists and specialists work within the program 1-2 days per week. Services are provided in both a pull-out or in-class format.
Before adopting Read, Play, and Learn!®, the program used a combination of literature and county-developed units. Read, Play, and Learn!® was adopted at the beginning of the 2000-01 school year.
