I have eight years experience 4 in inclusion and 4 in this self-contained special education preschool.
What was your biggest concern about switching to Read, Play, and Learn!®?
Developing and purchasing materials to support a new curriculum.
What have you found most challenging about Read, Play, and Learn!®?
Creating and purchasing materials to implement the ideas. We have been able to get donations from some area businesses.
What do you like most about Read, Play, and Learn!®?
I really like the literacy section of each module! There are great ideas.
What do you think are the greatest benefits of Read, Play, and Learn!® for the children in your program?
The books have such a variety of ideas, and hit so many areas of development.
Which centers do you use in your classroom?
Our program uses the following centers: blocks, sand, table toys/games, art area, literacy center, dramatic play, housekeeping, computer, and listening area.
What is a typical day in your classroom like?
Our schedule is as follows:
- Table Activities and Bathroom
- Circle Time
- Group Lesson

- Story

- Sign Goodbye and Bus
What changes have you and your staff observed in students since you implemented Read, Play, and Learn!®?
Since implementing Read, Play, and Learn!® and incorporating the ideas from dramatic play and literacy, the students imaginative play scenarios have expanded and become more appropriate.
Do you or the children have a favorite storybook module or activity? If so, why do you like it?
Our favorite module is The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything. We all love dressing up in the clothing to act out the story during dramatic play.
