Make raccoon masks. Cut pieces of black material into strips 2.5-feet long and 3-inches wide. You can mark where the child’s eyes are when the mask is tied on and then assist the child in cutting out small eye holes. As an alternative, children can paint paper masks and attach them with string through holes with hole reinforcers.

Make raccoon tails. Let the children stuff long socks with paper and tie the top of the sock with a rubber band. Then, let the children paint brown and black stripes on the “tails.” After the paint dries, the children can wear their masks and tails to pretend to be raccoons.

Make a tree school. Using large sheets of cardboard (cut from cardboard boxes), make branches to be attached to the tree school. Also, cut a large arch for the entrance to the tree. Let the children paint the branches and glue on green leaves, cut or torn from green construction or tissue paper. Tape the pieces onto a piece of gross motor climbing equipment to make a tree.
